Moms Are Best!

Good Morning!

It's been awhile since my last post.....I've been on bed rest for the last few weeks, so I didn't do much of anything.  I'm feeling much better now, so I'm back!!   Today's post features cards I made for Mother's day last Sunday.  I made 3 of them: one for my Mom, my Mother-in-law, and my Grandma.  They all loved them... A homemade card is so much more special than a store bought card.
In the first card, I used Melon Mambo (my favorite color) and daffodil delight.  In the second card, I used Concord Crush and Pear Pizazz DSP.  These cards use the Big Shot for most of the layers, but they are simple and quick to make.  I used the Alphabet dies that are sadly retiring on May 31st, the Hearts framelit collection (the new catalog has even more of these!), the butterfly embosslit, and the polka dots embossing folder (my favorite folder that I probably over use).

I received my new catalog pre-order items this week and I can't wait to play! I'll be busy this weekend creating new things to show next week, so stay tuned!  Thanks for stopping by!

Graduation Dreams

Another Graduation card!  This card was also made for our Ladybug Ink shoebox swap.  It's a money/gift card holder graduation card!  I used my favorite stamp set, Word Play.  It's, by far, my most used stamp set.  It has greetings for all occasions from Christmas cards, birthday, graduation, wedding, thinking of you....and on and on.  I love it!

I used the Big Shot to emboss the Whisper White card stock with the polka dots embossing folder and I used the Labels Collection framelits to cut out the Black and White pieces of card stock.
The new catalog will be out on Monday and I can't wait to see what will be in it -- I'm expecting many more framelits and edgelits!  On the inside of the card, I used Whisper White card stock and the decorative label punch to create a holder for money or a gift card.  Also, you can't really write on black card stock (unless you have a white pen), so the white card stock is necessary.
Used in this card:
Stamp Set -- Word Play (120308 Wood, 120651 Clear)
Card Stock -- Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink -- Real red
Ribbon -- Basic Black 1/2" scallop polka
Accessories -- Big Shot, polka dot embossing folder, Labels Collection framelits, Decorative Label punch, Score Tool

Graduation Medallion

Today's card was made for my Aunt.  She graduated from CNM with her Associates with honors and we are very proud of her achievment and dedication!  It's a pretty simple card, but I really like the way it came out.  This stamp is so pretty, so I'm sad that it is on the retired list.  I'm trying to use all my retiring products before June 1st -- now I only have 1 more month.  It's amazing how fast time is flying.

So, here's what I did:  I took a piece of Whisper White card stock cut at 4" by 5 1/4".  I stamped the Medallion in Versa Mark on the card stock.  I used white embossing powder and my heat tool to emboss the medallion.  Next, I used my daubers to sponge the card stock with Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder (purple) and Pool Party (light blue).  The 2011-2013 In Colors are probably my favorite set of colors to work with right now...I love everything about them especially for Spring and, like all the other Stampin'Up! color families, the colors compliment each other so well.
After I sponged the color onto the card stock, I wiped off the medallion with a tissue.  The ink will not stay on the embossed image.  I added some white satin ribbon and the Congrats stamp and it was done!  Very quick, simple, and most importantly, pretty!

Items used in this card:
Stamp Sets -- Medallion (115223), Tagtastic hostess set (122745 Wood, 122747 Clear)
Card Stock -- Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White
Ink -- Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, VersaMark
Ribbon -- Whisper White Satin Ribbon
Accessories -- Large oval punch, scalloped oval punch, sponge daubers, white embossing powder, heat tool

Thanks for looking....come back tomorrow!
